Dashboard

Smart Information Center

App Bottom Tab · First Tab

Dashboard is the home page of the app, displaying your vehicle's real-time status and recent activities with an intelligent layout.

Design Philosophy

The Dashboard uses a smart prioritization system to automatically display the most important information based on your vehicle's current state. Charging widgets appear at the top while charging, location map switches to driving mode when in Drive, and alerts are prioritized. This ensures you always see what matters most at a glance.

Core Components

Hero Section

Top area with essential vehicle info

  • Vehicle status indicator (online/charging/driving/updating/sleeping)
  • Battery ring chart showing percentage and health
  • Estimated range display
  • Vehicle lock and Sentry mode status
  • Tap battery ring to view detailed battery health
  • Tap vehicle name to switch between multiple vehicles

Smart Widgets (12+)

Information cards that adapt to vehicle state

Location & Drive Map

  • Widgets auto-sort by importance and time sensitivity
  • Driving mode enables automatic 3-5 second updates

Charging Cost Management

Smart Billing with Geofence & Time-of-Use

Settings → Locations & Cost

One of Mytess's signature features: automatic cost tracking using geofences and time-of-use pricing. Perfect for users with peak/off-peak rates.

Location Management

Set up charging locations with custom rates

  • Visual map-based location selection
  • Custom location names (Home, Work, Supercharger, etc.)
  • Adjustable geofence radius (20-500 meters)
  • Base rate per kWh for each location
  • Search for locations with auto-fill

Time-of-Use Pricing

Configure peak/off-peak rates for accurate cost tracking

  • Multiple time slots per location (e.g., Valley/Peak/Super-Peak)
  • Minute-level precision for time ranges
  • Day-of-week selection (weekday/weekend pricing)
  • Individual rates for each time slot
  • Automatic matching based on charge start time
Example: Valley (00:00-08:00) $0.32/kWh, Peak (18:00-22:00) $0.82/kWh

Batch Cost Update

Retroactively update historical charging costs

How to use:
  1. 1In Locations list, swipe right on a location (or long press)
  2. 2Tap the orange 'Batch Update' button
  3. 3Review the list of charges without cost data
  4. 4Tap 'Update All Costs' to apply rates retroactively
  5. 5View update results and statistics
💡 Forgot to set up rates? No problem! Update all past charges with one tap.

Parking Fee Rules

Real vehicle-use cost now includes parking fees when the API provides place-linked parking data.

  • Free minutes, billing interval rounding, fixed fees, caps, and monthly parking
  • Preview and batch update parking fees without changing charging cost
  • Stats, trips, and share cards can include vehicle-use cost with parking fees

Geofence Auto-Recognition

How it works:

  • App monitors vehicle location in background
  • When entering a geofence, location is automatically identified
  • Time-of-use slots are matched based on charge start time
  • Cost is calculated automatically using the matched rate
  • No manual input needed - fully automatic

💡 Pro Tips

  • Set geofence radius to 50-100m for accurate recognition
  • Configure time-of-use for all pricing tiers (valley/peak/super-peak)
  • Use batch update after setting up new rates for past data
  • Swipe right gesture works on all location items

Statistics & Analytics

Personal Performance Tracking

App Bottom Tab · Third Tab

View comprehensive data visualizations for selected time periods. Compare your own performance across different periods - not against others, but against your past self.

Design Philosophy: Personal Comparison

Mytess focuses on tracking YOUR usage patterns over time, not comparing with others. See how your efficiency, costs, and habits evolve week-to-week or month-to-month.

  • Personal records show your improvement journey

Cost Review

Recorded spend and estimated use cost without mixing meanings

Where: Stats > Cost & Charging > Cost Review

API 2.6 adds a period-scoped cost review that separates recorded spend from estimated vehicle-use cost, so missing, explicit zero, partial, and estimated values stay understandable.

Requires mytess API 2.6+

Older API services keep the legacy cost chart. Cost Review appears when the API returns a supported contract snapshot for the selected period.

Recorded vs Estimated
Recorded charging and parking spend stays separate from estimated driving and standby energy cost, instead of being blended into one unclear number.
Period Comparison
Adjacent equal-length periods can compare estimated use cost, recorded spend, charging spend, and cost per distance only when the comparison is valid.
Charging Ledger
Jump from the review into charge records for the same exact period, with missing, partial, and explicit zero-cost records kept distinct.
Cost by Place
Charging, parking, and standby rankings show where money went, and real place rows can open Place Detail with the review range locked in.

From snapshot to evidence

The review starts compact, then lets you inspect the records behind each cost story without losing the selected period.

Snapshot
Start with estimated use cost, recorded spend, charging spend, parking, standby, and data-quality states for the period.
Ledger and rankings
Open charge-only Activities, cost-by-place rankings, and exact evidence buckets instead of rebuilding totals manually.
Shareable outcomes
Low energy cost per distance, charging achievements, and lower costs than last period can become story posters.

Place Insights

Frequent places with drive, charge, and parking context

Where: Settings > Map & Location > Place Insights, or tap supported place names in activity rows and details

API 2.5 groups activity around meaningful places, so a location becomes a compact review surface instead of just a pin on the map.

Frequent / Charging / Drive Node Filters
The list can be filtered by product-facing place roles backed by the API role group.
Place Overview Card
Shows the strongest observation plus compact metrics such as price, parking fee, average stay, idle loss, and active span.
Related Records
Place detail links related drives, charges, and parking sessions with pagination and detail navigation.
Rhythm & Connections
Hour-rhythm mosaics and top source/destination connections explain when and how a place is used.

Detail modules

Each place adapts to the evidence available for that location.

Driving module
Unique related drives, touched distance/time, latest drive jump, and 24-hour endpoint rhythm.
Charging module
Total and average energy, cost coverage, average price per kWh, latest charge jump, and charging rhythm.
Parking module
Recorded parking fee, total/average stay, normalized range loss per 24h, and full-interval parking rhythm.

Sentry Event Review

Parking security triggers with time, place, and session context

Where: Dashboard current-parking prompt, Place Detail, or Settings > Map & Location > Sentry Events

API 2.5.1 turns server-recorded Sentry triggers into a reviewable archive instead of leaving them as one-off parking alerts.

Requires mytess API 2.5.1+

The event list appears when your mytesla/teslamateapi service exposes Sentry event data. Older API versions keep the rest of Map & Location available.

Event Timeline
Events are sorted by trigger time and grouped with the related parking session when the server provides that link.
Place Context
Place detail can show recent Sentry triggers for that location and drill into the matching event list.
Dashboard Reminder
The current-parking widget can surface unviewed triggers and marks them viewed after you open the list.
Clear Archive
Older triggers stay in a dedicated index rather than becoming another Activity type in the main timeline.

One review path

The feature links the quick reminder, place context, and full event index so you can trace what happened later.

Dashboard prompt
When the active parking session has unviewed triggers, the Location widget offers a compact entry to the record.
Place detail
Places with matching records can show recent Sentry triggers grouped by parking session.
Event index
The full archive under Map & Location is sorted by trigger time and keeps parking/place context visible.

Home Screen Widgets

At-a-glance data outside the app

Mytess can publish selected vehicle data to iOS widgets through App Groups, so key information stays visible without opening the app.

Vehicle Status Widget
Battery, range, and state of charge on the Home Screen.
Last Drive Widget
Most recent drive summary with cached route preview support.
Last Charge Widget
Latest charging session, energy, and cost summary.
Stats Widget
Aggregate distance, cost, and consumption for quick review.
